Mary Elizabeth Franklin

Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Franklin was born in Newfoundland, Canada January 5, 1937. She married at the age of 17 to Wilburn T. (Frank) Franklin. She was a loving mother and mother-in-law to her surviving daughters and their husbands, Sheila and Gary Aymes, Tricia and Jeff Navarro; son-in-law, Kim McGowan and a Grandma to Wendi Gover and husband John, Misty Wollard and husband Brian, Paul Aymes, Kelly Wallace and husband Ashley, Justin Navarro, and Lauren Navarro and a Great Grandma to Niklas, Jordana, and Skylar Gover; Kimmie and Bradley Wollard; Ciaran and Tristan Wallace. She is also survived by her siblings Herman Parsons, Rosalie Ritchie, Sheila Cassel, Muriel Johnson, Al Parsons, Martha Ham, Claudia DePriest, and Vince Parsons and their spouses. And many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Israel and Matilda Parsons; husband Wilburn T. Franklin, daughters Julie McGowan and Vicky Lynn Franklin; siblings Ignatius Parsons, Malcom Parsons and Cyril Parsons.

Liz enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved gardening and sewing. She loved to bake cookies and cakes with her grandchildren. Each one of her grandchildren had a favorite desert, and she took great pleasure making it for them. She made each grandchild a recipe book with all of her recipes, but they still insisted that she make them. She was a very spiritual person, she enjoyed and took pride in the volunteer work she did through St Vincent DePaul and St Johns Catholic Church in Hondo, Texas, where she was a member of the Martha Club, and the Alter Society.

Visitation will be at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 6907 Kitchener, 78240 on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 beginning at 10:30 A.M. with a rosary and mass at 12:30 P.M. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
