Mary Bethel Giovannini was called to be with our Lord on May 22,, 2011.
She is survived by her husband, Col. Max Giovannini USAF-Ret. and four children, Sue McCollom Patrick, Gloria Giovannini Jay Mitchell, Philip Giovannini, PhD. Sebastiana, and Regina Giovannini Lamar McCorkle, her sisters, Lorraine Brueggestrass and Helen Bernzott, and ten grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy McCartney Kincaid and Ruby Bethel Kincaid, her infant daughter, Marietta, and her sister, Ruby Williams.
Mary was born Mary Bethel Kincaid on October 14, 1928 in St. Francis, Arkansas, but spent most of her youth in Kentucky and southern Illinois. After marrying 2nd Lt. Max Giovannini, she traveled the world, supporting her husband on twelve military assignments, four of them overseas, in Tripoli, Libya, Frankfurt, Germany, Wakkanai, Japan, and Karamursel, Turkey, before making their retirement home in San Antonio.
Mary enjoyed travel for the opportunity it gave her to meet people of different backgrounds and cultures. She devoted countless hours to volunteer service, in base hospitals and schools, at her church, for the Red Cross, and most recently, at the Lackland AFB Thrift Shop.
Mary was a talented painter and seamstress, but her greatest interest after her family was caring for her many pets and any homeless or injured animal.
