Mary L. Gonzales

Our beloved mother, grandmother, family matriarch and giver of life went home in silent solemn and peace. She was a woman full of strength and courage even up to the time of her passing. She loved nature and plants, and at one time owned a nursery. There wasn't a plant she didn't love and any she couldn't grow. Her beautiful garden in her yard is a testimony to her natural green thumb. She worked hard her whole life and she instilled in us the value of hard work and perseverance.

Her biggest joy was seeing her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would scream with excitement and happiness and sang a little song that would make us all laugh and smile. She was an amazing woman who raised six children and a granddaughter with love, discipline and forgiveness.

Mother, you will truly and deeply be missed and forever in our hearts.

Mary Anselma Rocha Gonzales "Taris," age 95, passed away February 8, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born April 21, 1925 in San Antonio, Texas to Tomas and Carolina Acosta. She was preceded in death by her husband Francisco Gonzales; sisters, Herminia Enrique, Henrieta Gomez and a brother, Fernando Acosta. She is survived by her children Rowena Risa Vera, Ralph Patric Rocha, Richard Paul Rocha, Roxanne Ruth Felan, Rosalind Rachel Flaherty, Rebecca Rae Miller and husband Gary; 14 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Aleman and husband Jesse, Martha Birmingham, and Rita Lorenzo; brother, Gilbert Acosta and wife Shirley.

Many thanks and appreciation goes out to everyone who helped care for our mother. The family would also like to thank Embrace Hospice and Judy Yaegar for their continual support and care with our dear mother.

Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238 on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday March 9, 2021 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with internment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemtery.
