

Mary Kathleen Hancock Lewis, age 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 13, 2020 in San Antonio, TX with her devoted sons by her side. Mary was born in Claremore, OK to parents, Leamon Claud Hancock and Susan Ella Pippin, and grew up in Freer, TX. She was a graduate of Freer High School and Texas A&I Kingsville with a degree in Art History. She was a student of Art throughout her life and her preferred media was watercolor, oils, charcoal and sculpture.
Mary's life was lived out as a wife, mother, homemaker, faithful friend, volunteer, and her favorite role as "Yaya" to her five grandchildren. Mary's strong passion for both art and travel began as a flight attendant for American Airlines traveling abroad in the late 50's. Mary's vehicle to express her creativity was not only through fine art but the culinary arts. While living in Italy when her husband Rick was stationed there in the late 70's; she had the opportunity to study at a culinary school in France for an extended period and all her loved ones reaped the benefits as she loved to entertain and host the most wonderful dinner parties.
Mary had a heart for service and was a lifelong volunteer for various causes including her local hospitals and the American Cancer Society. It was Mary's wish that those wishing to donate to her memory contribute to the SPCA. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service to celebrate Mary's life will be scheduled after the restrictions are lifted.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and former husbands Bob Coleman and Frederick "Rick" Earl Lewis. She is survived by her sons, Brock Coleman and wife Shelby of San Antonio, TX; Dave Lewis and wife Melissa of Burleson, TX; her step-daughter, Laura Lewis Aguinaga and her husband Joe of Corpus Christi and their extended family; and her beloved grandchildren – Maci, Braden, and Haley Coleman; Madison and Zachary Lewis.
