

Mary was born on February 2, 1940 in Schenectady, New York on a snow covered icy day. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ann M (Savignano) and Americo F. Marino, sister Patricia of Knivsta,Sweden. She is survived by her brother, Michael J. Marino (M. Cooper Wright) of New York City, niece Ellen Hultman, great nephew Nikolai Hultman of Odeshog, Sweden, nephew Storm Hultman, twin great nephews Sandro and Angelo Hultman, of Uppsala, Sweden.
Mary was in the first graduating class of the then new Linton High school in Schenectady New York. She is a graduate of Vassar Brothers Hospital School of Nursing in Poughkeepsie New York, the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas and the University of Texas at San Antonio Texas.
As a Air Force nurse and Vietnam veteran, she was stationed both stateside and in Asia. She had over 100 combat missions as a flight nurse instructor, caring for the wounded during the Vietnam War. During her military career Mary held several positions including Operating room supervisor, nurse Epidemiologist, and combat flight nurse. She retired as the assistant Chairman of the Operating Room Services at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas.
Mary had many interests. She loved animals, fabric, quilting, music and reading. She loved her extended family and organized the annual family picnic that continues to this day. She was a long-time volunteer at the Institute of Texan Cultures, Habitat for Humanity and the library. She was an active quilter, a member of The American Sewing Guild and a Friday Gal Sewing Group. As a guild member she participated in many charity sewing projects and made many quilts used in health care centers, nursing homes, for returning military veterans and for fire fighters on September 11. Her quilts also are a comfort for family, friends, and children charities.
Mary’s ashes will be interned at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville New York.
