

She lost her mother at the age of twelve, Mary and her siblings were brought up of her maternal grandmother, Angelita and her two aunts Julia, and Elisa, her mother's sisters. She went to Fox Tech High School, later received her GED and went to San Antonio College where she took classes to improve herself. She worked at Kelly Air Force Base during WWII as a riveter and later working at the Baptist Hospital as a nurse aide after marrying Antonio C. Medrano in 1945. Lived on Guadalupe and Minter Street on the West Side of San Antonio. They later moved to Cincinnati Street where my brother and sisters and I grew up. Mother lived on Ranchero Street in Laurel Hills for the past 22 years, where she passed surrounded by her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary got her wish, she wanted to pass at home in her sleep.
She is preceded in death by her husband Antonio Medrano, her son Antonio Medrano Jr., her grandson Christopher David Gonzales, her brother Joe Delgado, and her sister Angelita Guerra.
She survived by her three daughters, Margaret Leal, Irma Medrano, Diana Moncivais. Daughter in law Cecilia Medrano. Grandchildren Michael Anthony, Richard Adrian, and Mark David Leal. Tony Medrano III, Nichole Andrea, and Jason Medrano. Monica and Matthew Moncivais, Crystal Robbins, Maegan Gonzales, and Joshua Gonzales. Eleven great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren.
She enjoyed swimming, exercising, gardening, traveling and baking. She has a beauty shop appointment every Friday and had a manicure every two weeks up until two weeks ago before she became bed ridden.
She was a life time member of the VFW post# 8936 on Guadalupe Street, A choir member and life time member of the Alter Society at Little Flower Shrine. She was a member of St. Matthews Church and a member of the choir. She attended Bob Ross Activity Center and enjoyed swimming classes and other activities until she could not get around.
Some of the best memories we have of our mother were when we traveled to San Francisco, we actually made three trips in the last eight years. She treated her daughters, granddaughters and her daughter in law to some beautiful memories.
Visitation will be held on Thursday June 30th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Porter Loring on McCullough with recitation of the Rosary at 7:30pm in the chapel. On Friday July 1st at 9:30am, a procession will depart Porter Loring chapel for a 10:00am Mass at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road. Interment in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
