Mary Jane Newton

Janie was born on September 15, 1923 in San Antonio to the late John Lewis and Marguerite Lawrence.

She graduated from Alamo Heights High School, attended Hockaday and the University of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Jane "Gigi" and husband of 58 years, Carl D. Newton.

She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law: Carl D. Newton III, wife Annie; Larry Newton, wife Beth; and Bill Newton, wife Susie; granddaughters, Shelby Newton, Clary Auler, husband, Mark and Lindsay Newton and Lauren Newton; great-grandson, Ashley Auler; sister-in-law, Taddie Gunn, and husband Robert; and many wonderful friends.

She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Junior League of San Antonio.

Janie was a vivacious and fun person.

She will be remembered for her flair for entertaining, fabulous parties and grand style.

Janie gave much joy and happiness to all of those who knew her and will be dearly missed.
