

Mary Irene Orozco, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in Live Oak. She was born on January 7, 1933 in San Antonio, to parents, Roy and Olivia Lopez Cazares. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School, Ursuline Academy and graduated Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas with a degree in business. At age 19, she married Alfonso. During her husband’s active duty military service, they lived in Germany, Okinawa Japan, California, Rhode Island, and after 20 years they settled back in Texas. She belonged to the San Antonio Women’s Christian chapter and volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister at BAMC for which she won volunteer of the year 2014-2015 through the Department of Ministry and Pastoral Care. She received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for her lifetime commitment to building a stronger nation through volunteer service in 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Olivia Cazares.
Mary Irene is survived by her husband of 69 years, Alfonso Orozco; daughters, Cynthia Hitchcock and her husband Jerry, Linda Trevino and her husband David, Renee Vasquez and her husband Manuel, and Juliann Scott and her husband Jason; grandchildren, Mary Irene, Justin, Amanda, Sara, Jessica, Thomas, Katherine, Haylie and Zach; great grandchildren, Logan, Faith, Jordan, Ryan, Olivia and Noah; sister, Lydia Estrada and husband Manuel; brother, Roy Cazares and wife Olivia; and sister, Betty Silva.
The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.

Father Jim Schellenberg will officiate. A private interment will take place in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin Hitchcock, Tommy Trevino, Zach Scott, John Silva, Adolf Guerra, Matt Flores. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Women and Children Shelter of San Antonio, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital Memphis TN, and the Alzheimer’s Association.
