

Mary Romula Torres, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, entered into her eternal rest with the Lord on October 28, 2024 at the age of 84. She was born in Georgetown, Texas on July 17, 1940 to Emiteria Rios and Victor Hernandez Ruiz with a joyful spirit and a heart full of love.
Mary married her beloved husband, Guillermo Torres, on December 19, 1964. Their love story began at her mother’s restaurant, where Mary helped out and first met Guillermo, a sweet and impeccably dressed man who instantly caught her eye. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion.
An exceptional cook, Mary created her own unique dish—tortilla rellenadas, similar to empanadas—which became a cherished family favorite. Known for her warm hospitality, Mary delighted in preparing meals that brought loved ones together. Her talents extended beyond the kitchen; she was an avid embroiderer and loved the creativity and beauty she could bring to life with her hands.
Mary and Guillermo shared a love for dancing, especially to the sounds of conjuntos and boleros, filling countless nights with music and joy. She was also known for her playful spirit, especially with her grandchildren, with whom she loved to play games like Wahoo, creating precious memories they will treasure forever.
She will be reunited in heaven with her parents, Emiteria and Victor Ruiz; daughter, Angela Cruz; and siblings, Raymond Ruiz, Lucy Lopez, Andrew Ruiz, Abel Ruiz, Prudencio Ruiz, Guadalupe Ruiz, Petra Ruiz, Luz Ruiz, Victor Ruiz, and Juanita Hernandez.
Mary will forever be remembered by her loving husband, Guillermo R. Torres; children, Henry Torres, Willie R. Torres, Richard Torres, John H. Torres Sr. (Monica), Jerry Torres (Melissa), and Michael Torres (Bomy), Grandchildren, Marina (John), Jon Michael, Adriana (Maria), John Jr. Briana, Brandon, Taylor, Sai, Yuri, Mya, Ivanna, and Ali; great-grandchildren, Violet, Valentino, Dean, Velvet, Leila, Christina, and Christian; siblings, Mary Ann Volanos and James “Jesse” Ruiz; and numerous extended family and friends.
The Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino, 226 Cupples Rd., San Antonio,TX 78237 followed by a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 535 New Laredo Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78211. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery III, 1735 Cupples Rd., San Antonio,TX 78226. Following the interment, a Celebration of Life will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church from 1:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m.
