

Matthew was born November 14, 1979 in Salinas, California, but grew up in Rockford, Illinois.
Matthew was an accomplished guitarist, an awarded weight lifter, and a national champion martial artist. At the age of 19 he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission to St. Petersburg, Russia for two years. In 2003 he married Miriam Elaine, and he was the heart of her heart. They brought three beautiful sons and a fabulous daughter into this world. There was no shortage of love in their home.
In 2009 Matthew earned a PhD in business management and began an accomplished and promising career as a professor. He loved to work with others to create and innovate. He was a gifted instructor and an example of love and service to all.
Matthew was dedicated to his church and his family. He reached out to friends and strangers alike. His heart was good as gold. His family was the light of his life and he served them with all his heart. He'll be missed more than words can say.
Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Gregg Victor McCarter. He is survived by his loving wife, Miriam, and his four adoring children, Gabriel (14), Hyrum (12), John (10), and Liberty (6).
The funeral will be managed by Porter Loring Mortuary North in San Antonio, Texas. Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 11:30 to 12:30 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
