 It's been a while since your son left this world and I still find it hard to take it all in. I pray for your family with all my heart and not a day passes without the thought of Matt or how all of you are doing. 'thier are so many of us who will never be the same, and those of us who will always long for your presents'

'I feel compelled to write something for Matt's dog Lennox, he has been grieving for his master. 
A most peculiar thing to observe, this grieving, he mopes around the house with me.. both of us with long faces. He's a boxer you see, and their physical characteristics compound the situation. It is uncanny though, I'm starting to resemble him.

'I had a very special son... since he was a toddler you knew and felt his goodness. 
Matt had a very big heart,and empathy for people at a very early age. 
When he was four years old we were at the movie theatre waiting for the movie to begin, when he spotted a gentleman sitting many rows in front of us, the man had palsy, and his face had twisted in such a particular way that he appeared to be saddened. Matt had observed this man for many minutes and then announced,? I?m going to sit with that man because he is sad he has no one to sit with.? 
Throughout his life he viewed people on a deeper level than most. 
He was especially kind to handicap people. Most recently before the end of the school term, I picked him up from school, I had to wait for a person in a wheelchair to cross the parking lot before reaching him. Matt hobbled in the car he was in a foot cast, and I asked if many handicap people attended his college? He said yes, that he always said hello to them and enjoyed speaking with them. He then gave me this fierce look and said, "NOT because I feel sorry for them, but just because I like to speak to them like any other person!" I now wish I knew why he felt so defensive about it.

'To the family of Matthew Parker I give all my simpathy and my support for this tough time you are going through.I dont have enought words but to say that anyone that was around Matt feels the pain. We are left with his charm and his smile and his good heart. The only thing I could tell you is that Matt was a great guy with a huge heart. We are left with the memory that Matt was a good person. If I had known earlier I would have offered my shoulders to cry on and my ears to hear your hurting heart and offered hugs to calm down the hurt of the loss of your baby, even though it would still hurt the same way just remember that many of us are with you.'

'I remember when the first time I met Matt in 3rd grade. I was new to the school and didn't know many people but Matt was one of the first people to befriend me. I knew from then that he would be a great friend. I will always remember his energy for life, and his always have to be doing something attitude. I will also remember the good times I had with Matt whether it be playing sports throughout our lives or acting foolish at his or my house. I will miss Matt greatly, but I will see him again someday.

My condolence to you and your family. I attend Northwest Vista College and had the pleasure of meeting Matt last fall in my English class. Recently he was the only familiar face I found in my Alegebra class this spring. Matt was truly a unique individual, he was kind, friendly,and caring with such manners. Which is most unusal in a teenager his age. He spoke with the younger classmates as easily as he did with the older classmates such as myself. He once helped me with class notes, you see I am hard of hearing and missed notes for an important test, Matt did not even hesitate to help me. He always smiled and said hello to me in the hallway. Yes, Matt did love to ride his cycle. I mentioned my 16 year old daugther had a red and white honda rebel, his face just lite up when he talked about motorcycles. You could see the pride in his face,as I complimented him on his bike. Your family has been blessed to have had Matt in your life, and I for having known him. God Bless

'There is nothing I can say that will ease your pain. But I want you to know that minutes after the accident both boys were still at the scene. My son's and I who live down the street had to drive by to get home. At that very moment we all three said prayers, my son asked why are you crying? I replied because somewhere there is a mother who will feel great pain & loss today... We all had a little trouble sleeping that night... I told my son's we must pray for them.... The very next morning I felt compelled to return to the scene and lay flowers in their remembrance. Our hearts and prayers are with you...'

We did not know Matthew, but we were one of first people at the accident site. My husband and another Doctor rendered aid the moment after the accident. We were just about to buy t-shirts, at the turning light, when the accident occurred. I called 911 and within minutes police and EMS arrived. My children witnessed the accident and have been saying prayers day and night for your family. Many people prayed for Matthew, Jared and their families at the accident, as we did in our Church and home.

At the end of his senior year, he came in to thank me for my help. I might have had ten students in my five years at Smithson Valley who did that, but none of them with Matt's smile and cheerfulness.
