AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Maurice "Nard" P. Tollette Jr.

9 décembre 1936 – 19 février 2025
Avis de décès de Maurice "Nard" P. Tollette Jr.
AUX SOINS DE

Sunset North Funeral Home

On February 19, 2025, Maurice P. “Nard” Tollette, Jr was received into the Lord's embrace and reunited with his son Ted and wife of 59 years Patricia Locke (McMahon) Tollette.

Born December 9, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas to Maurice Sr. and Minnie Tollette, Nard grew up in San Antonio, where he attended Alamo Heights High School. While attending San Antonio College, he fell in love with his first wife, Patricia McMahon. He and Pat raised four boys: Trey, Tim, Ted, and Terry, while he built a career in construction spanning five decades.

His love of family, friends and the water led him to Lake LBJ where they owned a house and spent many joyful weekends while the boys were growing up. Their next phase of life began when Trey, their oldest, entered Texas A&M University. Their passion turned from the lake to football weekends in College Station. Nard was a lifelong Aggie fan.

In later years, their tradition of being near the water was continued with the boys and their families as they spent many summer vacations together at both Lake LBJ and the Texas coast. Nard’s passion for bay fishing and frequent trips are now cherished memories of his sons and grandchildren, which consisted of fishing- but not always catching, and usually boat trouble.

He spent 50 years running Tollette Construction Company and was proud that his oldest son Trey followed in his footsteps, partnering and later taking over the company. He was involved in numerous organizations at St. Mark’s Catholic Church including ACTS and Knights of Columbus, where he earned his fourth degree and later became Grand Knight – or what his boys called the ‘Grand Poobah.’

A year after becoming a widower, Nard found another special someone to share his life with and married Carol (Janert) Tollette, a longtime friend and widow from within the St. Mark’s community. They were both so happy to have found love and joy again. Carol faithfully stood by him through his stroke, recovery in rehab, and final years. Nard loved his bonus daughter Michelle Janert Bohannan and her children like his own.

Nard was preceded in death by his father Maurice P. Tollette, Sr., mother Minnie (Watts) Tollette, first wife Patricia Locke (McMahon) Tollette, his son Ted Breen Tollette, his sister, Dahlyn Herald, and niece Mary Katherine Tollette.

Nard will be forever remembered by his second wife of almost four years, Carol Janert Tollette and his sons, Maurice P. III “Trey” (Jennifer), James Timothy (Vicki), Michael Terrance (Allyson) and daughter-in-law Janet Kent Tollette (Ted’s widow), as well as Carol’s daughter Michelle Bohannan (Ted).

He will also be remembered by his twelve grandchildren; Reese, Reagan, Ted, Tanner, and Ty Tollette, Garrett and Grant Tollette, Allie, Mitch and Wes Tollette, Stephanie Tollette Blanch and Kent Tollette, and ten great- grandchildren (five of which were born last year).

He is also survived by his sister Mary Hart Casey (Madison), brother Jim Tollette (Shelley), brother-in-law David McMahon (Jeannette) and their children and grandchildren.

The Tollette family wants to thank Junior and Raquel Sanchez, Nard’s extraordinary caregivers for the past 5 years. Their love, patience, and sense of humor helped Nard have a better quality of life, and Nard loved them like family.

Memorial donations in memory of Nard may be made to the Leiomyosarcoma Support and Direct Research Foundation at LMSDR.org, an organization supporting his daughter-in-law Jennifer’s battle with this rare cancer.

A funeral mass for Maurice will be held Monday, March 3, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at St Mark the Evangelist, 1602 Thousand Oaks Dr, San Antonio, TX 78232.
