

Max Cain, 84, of San Antonio, Texas, passed into Heaven to be with the LORD peacefully on April 11th, 2026 surrounded by loving family. Just a few hours before passing, he was talking, praying, and asking about family affairs. Max literally fell asleep praying and then entered eternity passing on a truly powerful witness.
Born in Lubbock, Texas on 25 April, 1941, to Milner T. Cain and Lura (Cain) Blackburn, Max was youngest of four boys and grew up in Seagraves, Texas. There he played sports, attended church, and demonstrated musical talents. Max graduated from West Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, and he then served two years in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky until honorably discharged in 1968. Post service he worked a long career in finance, mortgage, and loans with Citicorp, Home Savings Association, Cain Mortgage, and Benson Honda before retiring.
Max was married to Mary (Moses) Cain for 39 years, and they have resided in San Antonio for 31 years and attended University Methodist church since 2010. He greatly enjoyed and devoted significant effort to many Christian ministries and activities such as travelling choirs, Walk to Emmaus ministries, worship teams, ushering, community support programs, and especially leading Bible studies. Max also enjoyed yard work, fishing, and watching sports on Sunday afternoons after church. In all things he strove to extend the love of Christ to others.
Max was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and he is survived by his wife Mary; his son Waylan Cain and wife Randi, and grandson Joe, grandson Ethan and wife Brett, granddaughter Morgan and husband Giovani, grandson Stu and wife Kylie; his son Jason and wife Christy, and granddaughter Karson and grandson Kooper; his son Grayson and wife Katonya and grandson Aric; his son Chris Yerby and wife Britney, and grandson Jack, and grandson Evan; and his favorite daughter Cathy.
The family wishes to especially thank the family, friends, and church members who have supported and loved Max - "See you later!"
Visitation will be held at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232, US, on April 16, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The family invites guests stay following the service for light refreshments.
A Committal Service will take place at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660, US, on April 17, 2026, at 11:00 am.
