

Maximillian Samuel Veit (Max) departed this world to join our Lord on the morning of November 29, 2012. He was born in Shiner, Texas on April 7, 1925. He had 87 blessed years to celebrate life. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Hasek Veit, and their four children: Michael Veit and wife Diane of Cypress, Texas, Charlotte Siler of Bulverde, Texas, Maxine Keller of Houston, Texas, and Roxanne Pritchard and husband Scott of San Antonio, Texas. Other surviving relatives include sixteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and sisters Gladys Morgan, Lillian Shaffer and husband Vance, Frieda Malik and her husband Bennie, Doris Shoulders and husband Bob, Mary Ann Malik, Susan Tracy, and brothers Daniel Veit, Henry Veit and wife Jan, Jerry Veit and wife Maureen. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Magdalen Veit, sister Benita Kosarek, and brothers Freddie Joe Veit, Victor Veit, and Johnny Veit.
He was honorably discharged from the Navy after serving in WWII and continued to be very patriotic throughout his life. He loved visits from family and friends. He loved living in the country watching deer from the porch and seeing the family of gray martins / swallows that visited hatching a couple of nestlings each year. He loved his dog Patty. He loved fishing and hunting. He enjoyed polka music and watching war movies and eating goodies despite his later life Diabetes issues.
Please join us in remembering and celebrating his life. A rosary will be held at 12 noon at Porter Loring North on FM 1604 and a short service at 1230pm which will be followed by a burial at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday, December 6, 2012.
