Michael J. Bruns

Michael John Bruns, age 70, slipped the surly bonds of Earth on Saturday, March 30, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on August 15, 1942 to John and Marta Bruns. He attended Battle Creek Central High School and graduated from Kellogg Junior College. He moved to San Antonio in 1969 with his first wife, Sherri, and worked for various companies as a draftsman and for Eagle Lumber Co. and Zee Manufacturing LTD as an accountant. He also had a side business, John Michael's Photography, and took wedding photos as well as landscape photos. Other interests included Corvettes, Nascar racing, stamp collecting, model railroading and all things Disney. He was passionate about all he did, and went all out to decorate for holidays, particularly Halloween and Christmas. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Julian and Marta Sue Bruns and infant daughter Victoria Lynn Bruns. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Donna Rilling Bruns; daughter, Kimberly Joy Bruns; sister, Patti Mills Craun; niece; Jennifer Spence (Jeff). Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
