Mike was born on December 13, 1950, one of five sons born to parents Ralph and Agnes Quinn in Des Moines, Iowa. Though he wasn’t born in Texas, he would often say he got here as quick as he could.
Mike married the love of his life, Virginia Marie Quinn, on August 23, 1980. They were blessed with six children, Treavor Allen, Tyler Lee, Kelly Michelle, Regina Marie, Michael Patrick and Colleen Jeanette, and 17 grandchildren. He had a distinguished law enforcement career promoting through the ranks and retiring as a Major from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, followed by public service positions with the City of San Antonio, Brooks Development Authority and Alamo Area Council of Governments.
Mike’s true pride and joy were his grandchildren. He often said, “If I’d known being a grandfather was this much fun, I’d have done it first.” When not sitting in his recliner covered in grandkids, he loved traveling, consulting with esteemed colleagues on law enforcement cases and playing in his neighborhood poker group with dear friends. He had a love for old country western music and films and would watch “City Slickers”, “Three Musketeers” and “The Godfather Trilogy” whenever they came on TV.
Mike’s jovial demeanor, positive outlook and wry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Mike is survived by two brothers, Paul Quinn and Joseph Quinn, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Agnes Quinn, and brothers Donald Quinn and Thomas Quinn.
