Officer Michael Anthony Valdez, age 44, of Fort Worth and formerly of San Antonio, died on Friday, March 31, 2017 in Fort Worth Texas. Michael served our country as a Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy before starting his career in Law Enforcement. He was a deputy for the Bexar County Sheriff Office where he worked as a Detention Officer for several years before moving to Fort Worth. He was a member of the Criminal Intelligence Unit in the Fort Worth Police Department, where he worked since 2001. He was also a Gang expert at the Tarrant County DA's Office and a Task Force Officer for the Department of Homeland Security. Michael was an avid Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Spurs fan attending many of the games. He loved riding motorcycles especially Harley Davidsons. He and Mary Ann collected Harley Davidson Tee-shirts from around the world. Michael enjoyed working out, playing football and spending time with his kids. Michael was a member of the Fort Worth Police Association and the Latino Association in Fort Worth.
Michael's wife Mary Ann Valdez died shortly after him. He is survived by his sons, Michael A. Valdez, Jr and Jake Anthony Valdez; daughter, Harley Ann Valdez; parents, Santiago "Jimmy" and Mary Lou Valdez; brothers, Leroy Valdez, Jesse Valdez and Jimmy Valdez; sister, Sylvia Valdez; numerous nieces and nephews.
Michael and Mary Ann will be in state from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm on Thursday, April 6, 2017 and the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Porter Loring North.
