

Miguel “Mike” R. Salazar entered eternal rest on July 19, 2025, at the age of 93. A devoted servant of God, Mike was a lifelong member of San Juan de los Lagos and St. Jude’s Catholic Church, where he humbly served as a Eucharistic Minister, Altar Server, and Lector. His deep faith and dedication to his church were a guiding light in his life and an inspiration to those who knew him.
Born on July 5, 1932, Mike lived a long and fulfilling life rooted in love, family, and community. He was a passionate sports fan, and there was never a game he wouldn’t watch, especially if the Dallas Cowboys were playing. Whether it was football season or not, you could always count on Mike to be tuned in, cheering on his favorite team.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Benita H. Salazar; his parents, Jose and Anastacia Salazar; and his brothers, Jesus, Andres, Mario, Adolfo, Juan, Jose(Pepe) and Rosalio, as well as his sisters, Irene Esparza and Hope Shelton
Mike leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and love. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Jane Chavarria and Mary Ann Crisp; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren who brought joy to his heart. He is also survived by his brother-in-laws, Joe Huerta, Trino Huerta, Jesse Rivera and Inocensio (Chencho)Puente; and sister-in-laws, Lydia Puente, Antonia Rivera, Mary Huerta, and Ernestina “Tina” Huerta, along with numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Mike’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
