

Sgt. Milton D. Stokes, 84, US Army Retired, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. He was born in Orlando, FL on August 29, 1927. During the Korean War, while attempting to rescue a fellow soldier, Sgt. Stokes was shot by a sniper but managed to get them both out of harms way. For his efforts, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He is survived by his wife, Erneal Ruth Stokes; children, Philip Steven Stokes; daughters, Karen Lynne Wortham and husband Kenneth, Annette Louise Flores and husband Bobby; son, Michael Daniel Stokes and wife KC; grandchildren, Rudy Stappenbeck, Patricia McKenzie, April Waller, Leslie Stokes, Robert Flores, Josh Flores, Emily Stokes, Cami Wilhite, Taylor Stokes, Kyler Stricker, Mitchell Stokes; great grandchildren, Jade Stites, Micala Nicholas, McKenzie Waller, Glenn McKenzie, Holland Waller, Jordan Flores, Danilla Stappenbeck and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
