His playful and loving spirit was born on April 30, 1945, to parents Fred Hardy and Lurley Griffin, who with his five brothers and sisters, grew up in Sylacauga, Alabama. Upon his High School graduation, Aubrey enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served our nation for twenty-four years. He met and married Sylvia Garcia in San Antonio. Together they enjoyed family life with their children, Catherine and Michael. His Air Force career took him to Texas, Japan, Arkansas, Texas (again), Vietnam, Minnesota, South Dakota, Florida and finally, San Antonio, Texas for retirement. He served our nation with great pride and patriotism.
After retirement from the Air Force, Aubrey worked for the Air Force as civil servant, Judson Independent School District as a bus driver, and the United States Postal Service. He fully retired in 2006 to lovingly care for his wife, Sylvia, who passed away in 2012.Aubrey’s heart was renewed after he met, dated, and later married Marlene Kay on 14 February 2015.
Aubrey spent the last years enjoying the people and things he loved: Kay, his children and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, holidays, driving with Kay to casinos, and visits with family in East Texas. As the years passed, he attended every family event he could: graduations, weddings, and the birth of grandchildren to name a few.
Aubrey was devoted to his family –from the time he was a young man (sixteen), he cared for and supported his family. He cared for Sylvia until the moment of her passing, and he continued to care for Kay and his children until his last days. He served God, his country, and his family, his love was unending.
His family will always love, remember and honor him.Aubrey: Son, Brother, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Uncle, Cousin, Friend, Neighbor, whatever title you had for him, know that he always cared about you.
