Born on April 16, 1943, in Wilson County to Albert and Alice Wolff, Myra was the first in her family to graduate from college. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Texas State in 1965 and embarked on her teaching career the very next day. Myra married James D. Whitlock, Jr. and was blessed with a daughter, Andrea Whitlock. She taught middle school math in Northside ISD for many years. Later, she transitioned to a career as an analyst and manager with the test publisher TPC/Harcourt/Pearson until her retirement.
Beyond her professional accomplishments and love for kitties, Myra found joy in many hobbies, including reading, sewing, and crafting. She also was a proud resident of Leon Valley, where she worked tenaciously for years to get speed humps, which are still the only ones in Leon Valley, installed on her street. Speeders in Heaven should be on notice!
Myra is preceded in death by her husband James D. Whitlock, Jr., her parents Albert and Alice Wolff, and her brothers Charles and Herman Wolff. She is survived by her daughter Andrea Whitlock; grandchildren Jamie and Tommy Makusky; siblings Robert Wolff, Gladys Meyer, and Shirley Maha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM. A memorial service for Myra will be held Monday, January 22, 2024 from 4:00 PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238.
