N. Jeffie Hill was ninety-six when she died on Monday, December 18th. Jeffie was a woman of gentle grace, humble dignity and strong character. Born into a very modest but warm home, she was actually a riveter and later office manager at an airplane factory in Dallas during WW II. She had one child, Barbara, who predeceased her. She married James A. Hill, an Air Corps captain in 1946 and was married for sixty-four years until his death in 2010. General Hill retired from the Air Force in 1980 as Vice Chief of Staff of the USAF. During their active duty service, they travelled extensively and saw most of the world. Her travels and experiences reinforced her great love and respect for America, its values and greatness. Jeffie's interests ran from sewing, reading, and golf to bridge, where she and Gen Hill were Grand Masters. After retirement, the Hills moved to the Dallas area and then settled in San Antonio where they were members of Oak Hills Country Club.
Jeffie is survived by her granddaughter, Renee James, her husband Kyle and their son Jesse James as well as five nieces and two nephews. All three of her sisters and three brothers predeceased her. In lieu of flowers or other considerations, Jeffie would ask you to please take a moment to be thankful for the many blessings of our great country.
