

She was a resident of Air Force Village I at the time of her death. Nancy was born January 26, 1927 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Wilbur and Jennie Ritter. She was raised in Miami, Florida and upon graduation from high school she moved to Puerto Rico.
She was employed at Ramey Field where she met her future husband, George. George was a Lieutenant in the Air Force when they met and they married at Ramey AFB. George had a wonderful 32 year career in the U.S. Army Air Corps/U.S. Air Force.
Nancy was a loving and supportive Air Force wife. She was a gracious hostess and always created a warm, beautiful family home. Nancy was always known for her style and grace.
Their life together in the Air Force took them and their six children all over the world from France to Japan and California to Virginia. In addition to being a supportive wife, she prided herself in her volunteer work with the American Red Cross at each assignment. Nancy loved painting and was an accomplished knitter. She loved the water, swimming everyday and was so proud when she became a member of the 100 Mile Club at the Garden Ranch YMCA in Colorado Springs.
After George retired in Colorado Springs they both enjoyed the outdoors. They loved camping in their motor home and skiing in the Colorado Rockies. Nancy was George's constant co-pilot and they enjoyed many years flying in George's Piper Arrow.
Nancy was a loving mother who took pride in each of her six children. She enjoyed being a grandmother to her five grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren will miss her very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. George T. Dwyer, USAF Ret. Nancy is survived by her six children, Susan Mellow, Patricia Balph, Kerry Dwyer, Major General Kathleen D. Close, USAF and her husband, Col. Michael Close, USAF Ret, Patrick Dwyer and Jane Moore and her husband, Lt. Col. Thomas Moore, USAF Ret; grandchildren, Samuel Mellow, Jondavid Nash, David Moore, Katharine Moore and Elizabeth Moore; brother, William Ritter.
Nancy will be interred with George in the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
The Committal Service at the National Cemetery will be Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
A Rosary will be at Air Force Village I on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M.
