Nancy Jennings, 72, passed on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at her son’s home in Austin, losing a battle with cancer which she fought for over five years. Nancy was born as Nancy Lynn Clarkson on August 20, 1938 in Corpus Christi, TX. She was second to the youngest of four children. Nancy graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Physical Education from the University of Texas in 1961. Upon graduation she moved to Junction, TX where she began a career in teaching and prided herself as the Girl’s Coach. It was also in Junction where she met her future husband, Al. They married and ultimately settled in San Antonio, TX to raise a family. Nancy later worked within the private insurance industry but spent most of her time as a devoted wife and mother. She was always involved in her children’s activities. In fact, her volunteer duties such as Cub Scout Leader and Team Mom remain an imprint in not only her children’s minds but in their friends’ minds as well; she was known as a second mother to many of them. This also remained true well into their adulthood. Throughout her retirement years, Nancy enjoyed playing golf and traveling frequently to casinos with friends. She was a Longhorn for life, but her most important and valued role was being a devoted friend, prideful mother, and most especially a doting Nana to her five grandchildren. She was a pillar of strength, vigor, and grace throughout her battle with cancer. She was constantly surrounded by friends and family and used humor to help others cope. She was a very loving and very special person. Nancy is survived by her son, Lindey Jennings of Austin, TX and her daughter, Katy Dice of San Antonio, TX and five grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother and sister; Edward Clarkson of Kerrville, TX and Barbara Allen of San Antonio and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Willie and Joy Clarkson, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Allen Lee. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset North Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Light the Night in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This is a fundraiser to help fight childhood cancer.
