

Nicholas Monda, 70, of Brooklyn, New York passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 surrounded by his children and friends who loved him. He was born on June 29, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York and was the companion of Ana Bersabeth Laugier until her death.
Nick grew up in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn and attended Boys High School on Marcy Avenue. Nick moved to San Antonio, Texas to be closer to his children and grandchildren in June of 1999. Soon after his arrival he began a career working with the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department where he left a long-lasting impression on all who crossed paths with him and developed lifelong friendships.
Nick had a passion for war history documentaries, films, books and was an avid collector of military memorabilia. He also enjoyed building models of old warships, airplanes and electric train sets.
Nick was preceded in death by his father, Frank Monda. He is survived by his children: Roberta "Nina" Hassele, Nicholas Michael Monda and his wife, Constance Monda, and Charles Hassele; two grandchildren: Noah Walker Collins and Giana Laugier Monda; his mother, Stella Monda; his siblings: brother Ray and wife, Roseann Monda, their children Michael Monda and his wife Danielle, Janine Monda and her husband Timothy Glynn and Craig Monda and his wife Jennifer Monda; sister Johanna Monda and her son Frank Puglisi and his sister Lorraine Monda and her husband Bob Parisi and their children Dana Parisi, Lauren and her husband Scott Stapleton. Great nieces and nephews Michael, Alex, Christian, Julianna and Craig.

A gathering of friends and family to celebrate his memory will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 -- from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Porter Loring Chapel, 1101 McCullough Ave.
