Nolan Dempsey Martin, Jr.

Nolan Dempsy Martin, Jr. passed away quietly on January 27, 2023, to be with his lord. He was born October 18, 1932, in Kerrville to Ethel & Nolan Sr. He married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn, in 1950; They both graduated from Tivy High School in 1951; both continued getting degrees from U of Houston. He Was voted most handsome in high school and college. By 1960, they had 3 boys and 1 daughter. In 1959, Nolan went to work for Geigy Pharmaceuticals, calling on doctors as a salesman in Houston. Nolan was a born salesman; he never met a stranger. In 1966, the family moved to San Antonio, opening the path as the first Hospital sales rep. He then became the sales manager covering 11 states; following the merger of Ciba-Geigy (now Novartis), he became the Hospital manager covering several states. During these years of much traveling, his 3 sons were very involved in all sports- baseball, basketball and football, from JR High through college, but he rarely missed one game, many times coming off the road only to get in the car to travel out of town for a game. He served as President on all their sports-involved associations. Since the daughter was involved in dancing, the boys were required to attend her recitals. For 30 years, he and Carolyn traveled the world, being gone for 1 month each year, seeing all but one continent (Antarctica) He worked for Ciba/Geigy for 34 years, retiring at age 60. Building a new home in a new subdivision, he became the first HOA President. He and Carolyn were married 71 years. He is survived by 1 brother, Roger, 2 children, Larry Martin (Michele), and Melani Forks, 6 grandchildren, Jehramy, Andre Forks, Carisa (Cole Clayton), Shaun (Amy Forks), Meagan Martin, Davy (Tanya Forks), Kale Forks and 8 great grandchildren, a sister, and a brother. He is preceded in death by his wife, 2 sons Brett and Ronnie, his sister and a brother.

A private memorial service for immediate family will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
