September 2, 1949-September 30, 2017
Dale Savage, 68, of San Antonio passed away of natural causes on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at a San Antonio Hospital. He was born to Justina and Robert "Doc" Savage in Sacramento, California on September 2, 1949. He graduated from Oliver Wendell Holmes High School in May of 1967 where he was active with the school annual and was an editor of the school paper. He attended St Mary's University studying chemistry, served in the US Air Force for four years and attended UTSA graduating with a degree in Fine Arts in May of 1978.
Dale went to work for the Social Security Administration in Galveston, TX in 1979, eventually being transferred back to San Antonio where he remained until his retirement in 2005. Starting out as a representative, he worked his way up through the ranks to become an Instructor and Trainer for the SSI disability branch. He loved his job and especially the people he worked with.
He was an exceptionally talented man when it came to building and creating anything from cabinets to building an A-frame house. He was also an accomplished artist--painting was a passion. He did sketches, drawings, lithographs, portraits and wall murals. His creativity was boundless as he was also proficient in electronics, sewing and upholstering furniture. He enjoyed playing the accordion and an old foot pump organ that he fully restored. Yet his greatest love was for his pets. Over the years he had many cats and dogs that were his constant companions.
He was preceded in death by his mother Tina Savage. He is survived by his father Robert "Doc" Savage, brother Roger Savage and his wife Sherry, niece Skylar and nephew Eli, all of Westphalia, TX.
