

He was born on November 30, 1934 to V. O. and Grace Bond.
Pete grew up in the Gonzales area and graduated from Gonzales High School in 1953. He grew up helping his Dad on the ranch. As a young kid, he rode race-horses for his uncle. When he got older he turned to rodeos. Calf-roping was a hobby of his and along with his brother, Jack, they traveled the roads to many amateur rodeos in the south Texas area. As a family, many a weekend was spent going to a rodeo or a "jackpot" roping.
Pete started with Texas Automatic Fire Sprinklers as an apprentice in 1959. He retired as a foreman in 1989.
Pete was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dell and three brothers-in-law: William Scoggins, Leslie Marrou and Malcolm DeBerry.
Surviving him are: his wife of 57 years, Joan; daughter, Denise Moon, son, Mark Bond (Patti), and grandchildren: Cody Moon, Cade Moon, Kaitlyn Bond, Cullen Bond and Hayley Haushill. Also surviving are brother, Jack; sisters, Marie Scoggins, Ruby Marrou, and Dorothy DeBerry, numerous nieces and nephews, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Betty Crowell.
Services will be held at the Porter Loring Chapel on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Hill Country Memorial Gardens on Hwy. 46.
