Norman Eugene Thompson, age 88, of San Antonio, Texas, died on April 13, 2014. "Norm" Thompson, son of William and Helen Thompson of Cambridge, New York, passed away in hospice care. He is preceded in death by his brothers William Thompson and the Rev. John Thompson, by his sister Helen Myers, by his daughter Rebecca Hoffman and by his companion Elaine Roberts. He is survived by his two grandsons, Brett and Geoffrey Hoffman, and his great-grand children, Becky Hoffman and Abbey Hoffman. Thompson was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, all of whom loved him.
Thompson was an enlisted Marine who served proudly in World War II in the South Pacific. After the war he built a career as an independent geologist in the petroleum industry. Thompson also enjoyed a life-long fascination with anything that fired a projectile.
