Olan “Gene” Eugene Johnson passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the age of 88 in Windcrest, TX. He was born on March 14, 1929 in Ames, TX to Olan and Mary Johnson. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia L. Johnson. He is survived by his children: Connie Petersen (Mike), Bradley Johnson (Keith), Robin Spriggs(Kevin); grandchildren: Tim Richardson (Wendy), Michael Petersen (Gary), Nicolas Spriggs, Coby Spriggs, Kenton Spriggs, Kyler Spriggs; great-grandchildren: Devan Schulz, Corey Richardson, Hannah Richardson, Leeanna Spriggs; brother: Jerry Johnson (Connie) and other loving family members and friends.
He was loving person and adored his grandchildren who know him as paw paw. He was known to be the jokester of the family and could be always count on for a laugh. His nickname back in the day was Tops he served in the National Guard for 32 years and served in Desert Storm as a Family Support Representative.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 6pm-9pm at Sunset Funeral Home. A Funeral Servce will begin on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 3pm at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
