She is an alumna of Camp Waldemar, Hockaday School and Randolph Macon Woman's College. She moved to the San Antonio in 1951 when she married Bond Davis, a local attorney. They enjoyed 54 years of marriage before he died in 2005. Olive's life was one of grace; she loved it and lived it to the fullest.
She participated in her church, in this community and with activities involving her family and friends. She was a ruling elder at First Presbyterian Church, a church school teacher, Bible study leader, and a member of the Sanctuary Flower Committee. She served on the church Building Committee for 30 years. She contributed to this city through the Junior League of San Antonio serving as president in 1960-61 and was honored by that group as their Volunteer Extraordinaire in 1999. She served on a number of community boards including San Antonio Botanical Society, Morningside Ministries, Ecumenical Center for Religion and Health, Children's Shelter, and Visiting Nurse Association.
She also served as president of the Bexar County Bar Auxiliary. Olive was Mistress of the Robes for the Order of the Alamo Coronation in 1972. She enjoyed being with friends in The Assembly, Monte Vista Garden Club, Timely Topics, The Forum, San Antonio Country Club and The Argyle.
She was blessed in every way, but the greatest blessings were her four children, all of whom survive her: Carol Davis West (David Blair), Mary Austin Davis Wilde (Stephen Brent), Reagan Hunter Davis, Hallie Davis Doyle (Michael James) all of San Antonio. She also enjoyed her grandchildren David Bond West, Olivia Hunter West, Reagan Holton West, Austin Michael Doyle, Harrison Bond Doyle. She is also survived by her longtime friend Sarita Martinez Vasquez and nieces and nephews Mary Austin Hart, Elizabeth Austin Conner, Edward Hebert Austin, Frank C. Davis, Laura A. Davis and cousins Linda Falvey Rowland and Paula Evans Billingslea.
She was also grateful for the loving and wonderful care she received in her last days from Mely Poore, Mina Martinez, Julia Sepeda, Maria Trevino, Araceli Capetillo, Diana Gonzalez, Margarita Gonzalez, and Claudia Rodriguez. Olive was also blessed with the good fortune to have been cared for by her talented and caring doctors Dr. Melissa Isbell, Dr. Mark Thorton and Dr. James Willerson.
