Oscar Ortiz

Oscar Ortiz, 78, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on February 24, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. Born on May 9, 1947, in Saint Charles, Illinois, Oscar was a man defined by his deep kindness and an unwavering readiness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

A proud graduate of Batavia High School and Northern Illinois University, Oscar carried the values of his Midwest upbringing throughout his life. He was happiest when he was near the water; whether he was boating or skiing, he found his greatest peace and joy surrounded by the waves.

Oscar’s greatest legacy lives on through his children. He was a dedicated teacher at heart, passing down practical skills and life lessons that his children continue to use every day. He will be deeply missed by his children: Shawne, Shea, Sarah, Frank, Wesley, and Alicia. He was a doting grandfather to Diego, Jordan, Cooper, Sophia, Lola, Triss, and Nora.

He is also survived by the mother of his children, Sarita; his sisters, Cristela and Olga; and a large, loving circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Francisa Ortiz, and his brother, Carlos Ortiz.

Visitation will be held at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232, on March 15, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
