Patricia Robinson Becker

Patricia “Pat” Robinson Becker, age 94, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on March 17, 1930, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Roland and Meta (Menking) Robinson. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1952 and earned her master’s in education from the University of Illinois. She worked in early childhood education until meeting Walter “Bud” Becker, marrying him and welcoming his 2 daughters, Barbie and Bonnie, in 1961. They moved soon after to Charlotte, North Carolina and welcomed daughter Sally in 1963.

In the 1960’s, Pat was involved in Bridge Club, Investment Club, and her Chi Omega Alumni group. A busy mother of 3, she and Bud were involved in PTA, Sounds of America, Girl Scouts, and their girls’ many activities. Bud earned incentive trips through work, and they traveled the world. When their daughters were grown, Pat began what was to become a 20-year career at H&R Block, running a large office in Charlotte. Both Pat and Bud were fixtures at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. In 2000, Bud suffered a stroke that left him permanently disabled. Pat became his sole caregiver. In 2005, they relocated to San Antonio to be closer to their daughter, Sally, her husband Kirby, and their three children. Together, Pat and Bud were fully present in the lives of their children and grandchildren, who loved them dearly. In 2019, after 58 years of marriage, Bud passed away. Pat continued to live at their independent living community until May when she moved to assisted living.

An avid sports fan, Pat enjoyed all sports but followed her beloved San Antonio Spurs religiously, listening to games on the radio. She spent a joyous Christmas Eve and all day on Christmas with Sally, Kirby, and her grandkids. God peacefully called her the next day to join Bud. Her family is sad but rejoicing for her exceedingly full life. She was a thoughtful friend, a kind and loving mother and grandmother, and an extraordinary woman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Jack Robinson; sister-in-law Pat; and nephew, David. Pat is survived by her daughters, Barbara Becker (Ohio), Bonnie Becker (New York City), and Sally Mask and husband Kirby (San Antonio); grandchildren, Logan, Whitney (fiancé Andrew Pressly), and Colby.

A memorial service will be held in San Antonio on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church and streamed through this link: https://www.youtube.com/live/UTZ1zQYychI. Pat was always generous in supporting many organizations; in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate for memorial contributions to be made to a charity of your choice.
