

Patricia Sue “Kim” Rees, a beloved member of the San Antonio community, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024 at the age of 86 surrounded by her three children. Sue was affectionately known as Kim to her friends and leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering friendships that touched so many lives.
Born on December 19, 1937 in McKinny, Texas, Sue was the daughter of Pathie and Truman Hankey.
Sue met the love of her life, Dr. Al Rees, in San Antonio, Texas. The two were married for 31 years together before his passing in 2005.Thier marriage was filled with adventure, which included hunting, fishing, and traveling.
Sue's leadership and vision were evident during her tenure as President of the Executive Woman’s club, an organization that provided support and camaraderie to the San Antonio Executive Men’s Association. Al and Sue hosted many parties associated with this organization. Sue’s was an integral member of the San Antonio Women’s Club.
An avid bridge player, Sue found immense joy in the strategic and social aspects of the game. She was a regular at several bridge clubs, where she formed lasting friendships and sharpened her skills. Her competitive spirit and sharp mind made her a formidable opponent and a cherished partner at the bridge table.
Sue loved her plants, tending to them daily. She enjoyed golf and bowling, where she was a member of the 300 club. She also loved to read.
Fishing and hunting expeditions with family and friends were frequent events. Sue’s enthusiasm was always on display. These activities were not merely hobbies for Sue; they were opportunities to connect with loved ones and herself.Shopping was another great joy for Sue. She loved to go from aisle to aisle and rack to rack in any store she went. She loved to piddle at Walmart for hours; especially with her sister, Patsy. They would look for a Walmart every time they took a trip. Sue would always say it is her Retail Therapy.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dr. Al Rees; brother, Winfred Hankey; sister, Lana Wilkes. She is survived by her children, John Kimbrough, Vickie Jones (Mike), and Sandy Shipley (George); grandchildren, Amanda Nelson (Gary), Sarah High (Jordan), Blake Jones (Patty), Katie Ruiz (Gilberto), Russell Shipley, Rachel Watts (Brad), Charlie Kimbrough; 10 Great-grandchildren; sister, Patsy Pettigrew; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11: 00 a.m. to 12:00p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
