Patrocinio Martinez Jr., also known as Pat, entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on August 29, 2024, at the tender age of 64. He was born on July 2, 1960, in San Antonio, Texas, to Victoria Rendon and Patrocinio Martinez Sr.
Patrocinio grew up in San Antonio, proudly attending Memorial High School, where he graduated in 1980. He met the love of his life, Genevieve Ortegon, at a wedding where fate brought them together—a story often recounted with a smile. It was love at first sight with his future wife, and the two shared a lifetime of memories together, filled with love and laughter. He cherished his large family, including his six daughters, with whom he shared a special bond. His love for his daughters was immeasurable, and he treasured every moment spent with them. He was not just a father but a friend, playing baseball with his girls when they were young and filling their lives with laughter and joy. He also shared a special bond with his grandchildren, taking walks around the block with them, creating memories they will treasure forever. His playful spirit was always evident in the jokes and laughter that filled their home.
Patrocinio was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to providing for his family, working as a truck driver and later in maintenance at H-E-B. His work ethic and commitment to his family were unparalleled, and he always ensured that they had everything they needed. Patrocinio was a man of deep faith, a devout Catholic who instilled strong values in his family. He regularly attended St. Mary Magdalen with his family.
A true sports enthusiast, Patrocinio had a passion for football, especially for the Minnesota Vikings. His happiest alone time was spent watching football and basketball games on TV, savoring every moment of the sport he loved—his own special time to relax. His love for sports was matched only by his love for good food; he especially enjoyed burgers at Burger Boy and loved maintaining the summertime tradition his father started, eating BBQ at Kreuz Market in Lockhart, Texas—the BBQ capital of Texas.
Patrocinio will be reunited in heaven with his parents, Patrocinio Martinez Sr. and Trinidad Martinez, and Victoria R. Rodriguez; and his siblings, Victor, Graciano, Espiridion, Patrocinio, Ruben, and Roland.
His memory will forever live on in his wife of 40 years, Genevieve Ortegon Martinez; loving daughters, Sarah Ann, Ashley (Chris), Jessica (Gregory), Patricia, Alexis (Daniel), and Alexandra (Jose); grandchildren, Hailey, John, Natiley, Noah, Cora, and Freya; siblings, San Juanita “Tina” (Tony), Nancy, Betty, Rosalinda (David), Gloria (Mike), Felipe (Shirley), Juan, Ramon, Benjamin, Martin, Edward, Raul, and Robert; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Patrocinio Martinez’s life was a testament to hard work, faith, and love for his family. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
