He was born on March 25, 1931 to Sidney Joseph and Thelma Langham McReynolds in Malvern, AR. He leaves his wife, Emily Parish McReynolds of San Antonio and beloved stepsons, David S. Reasons (Carolyn) of San Antonio and their children, John, Lucy, and Nora Reasons, and Kevin B. Reasons (Sherri) of Germantown, TN and their son, Kyle Reasons. He is also survived by his sister, Sydney Rajchel of Fountain, CA, nephews, Marcus Rajchel and Joseph Rajchel, and his brother-in-law, Michael L. Parish (Kate) of Troutville, VA and their son, Mark Parish.
Paul’s lifelong love of flying led him to get his private pilot’s license back in the 1950’s, and later a seaplane and snow-ski plane rating. He was a long time member of the Experimental Aircraft builders in several different chapters. In later life, two of the jobs he enjoyed most were working for a company restoring antique aircraft and hiring out to assist other builders with their aircraft construction.
His appreciation of excellent machinery was reflected in his choice of hobbies. He enjoyed touring with Emily on the BMW touring motorcycle, driving sports cars, and building replica flintlock rifles. But his attention always returned to aviation related activities. He built two experimental airplanes, a Cassutt race plane and a Richard VanGrunsvan designed RV 4 sport plane. In 1987, he was most gratified to receive a Wright Brothers Award at the Dayton Airshow and to receive the Kit Built Grand Champion at EAA Oshkosh Fly-in.
He felt blessed to participate in Bible Study Fellowship for a number of years until his health prevented his attendance and he treasured the learning insights and brotherhood of that organization.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 17th from 10-11 am in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with a service to take place at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN or to Bible Study Fellowship, 19001 Huebner Rd, San Antonio, TX 78258.
