This was my mother and father when they were very young both of them were working at Finck Cigar box plant. My dad would be the one cutting the pieces of wood for the boxes and my mom was building the boxes from the wooden pieces and putting the labels on the boxes with the Finck trademark on top at that time they would both take the bus to work and then back home after working together for some time they decided to get married on January 17,1949. A year later they had their first child who was named after my dad after a few years they decided to adopt a little girl named Adela she was 7 and my brother was 10. In 1962 my mom had her second child it was a girl they named her Sylvia after the nurse that was working at the hospital 5 years later they had their third child who is a boy they named him Steven after his dad’s brother 
And a year later they had their final child who was a girl and they named her Anita after our dad’s mom. They celebrated their silver and golden wedding anniversary together at St Jude’s Church where they both dedicated their life to. They were Eucharistic ministers and visited the sick and elderly and took them communion then in 1980 Mr Ortiz was ordained as a deacon of st Jude’s church where he served for many years. They both had a heart of gold they would always go out of their way to help anyone who was in need even if it was a complete stranger. They both lived a wonderful life together for many years until my dad passed away in November 2001. God gave my mom a long life and allowed her to celebrate her 95 th birthday before she passed away. She was always a blessing to all of her children and will be greatly missed. We all love you mom and dad and one day we will be reunited together once again.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

This is how I remember Tia Pauline  always doing something outside. She loved wearing her sandals too.
We could always count on her for so many things. I remember on 2 occasions we had to go to Monterrey for an emergency and we didn't have any money. Tia offered to loan us the money so we could go. She also offered to give us the electric scooter for my mother in law.  We didn't accept it but just her offering meant so much. My husband Jesus was always outside and thy would talk about everything under the sun. When we moved & left the neighborhood Tia asked my husband, are you sure you all want to move? I knew she would miss us especially because we lived next ro each other so many years & we could always count on each other . On several occasions we had to leave our poodle,  Chiquitin but we could always count on Tia to make sure he ate and had plenty of water. She was a wonderful Tia, always ready to help anyone who needed it.

Tia Pauline loved to be outside rocking on her porch swing. That's my baby sister Nicole on Tias porch playing with her little bike. You could always find Tia out in her garden tending to her roses, or every morning sweeping the side walk & street. She always waved to the cars that passed by because she knew everyone. I also remember she was always rolling her hair and using Bobby pins to secure her curls. I was blessed to have grown up next to my Tia and cousins.
May your soul be forever in heaven in peace enjoying the fruits of your life. I can see you all together with my beloved  Mommy Anita, Daddy, GrandmaHelen & my beautiful Mama.

My beloved Tia was the nicest person in the world. She was always there for everyone. She always remembered my birthday. She will forever be in my heart.
