Pearlie "PJ" Cannon

A visitation for PJ will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A committal service will occur Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, to Fort Sam Houston 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78209.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of (Ret) SMSgt Pearlie J. Cannon (PJ), born on September 22, 1936 in Marion South Carolina, who went home to our heavenly father on November 29, 2023 in San Antonio Texas.

Pearlie was predeceased by his sister Ethel Curtis, brothers Carlton & Wallace Cannon, and his daughter Wanda Gayle Cannon. He is survived by his brother Clifton Cannon, sisters, Louise Capps, Lilly Bourque and Patricia (Patty Miller). He was a devoted husband for over 66 years to Emma Cannon. He was also a loving father to Patricia Cannon & Michael Farias, Ralph Cannon, Stephen and Daphne Dimando. A beloved grandfather to Jason Moreno, Garrick Moreno, Brett Cannon, Stephen Dimando, Megan Hopper, Marcus Dimando, Brittany Carrillo,Gabrielle Dimando, Ashley Reyna, Jordan Carrillo, Dominique Dimando, Jacob Carrillo, Joshua Cannon, Cassidy Cannon. His other treasures were his 23 great grandchildren. Nothing gave him greater joy than listening to them invade his house and bless him with hugs and demands for snacks.

Some of his favorite things to do were fishing, camping, and his love for great music. His favorite actor was John Wayne and he'd never pass up an opportunity to watch a great western marathon on TV. He could listen to the voices of George Jones, Dolly Parton, and Travis Tritt every day. PJ lived a wonderful meaningful life in Texas and wasn't short on anything.
