

Peggy was born on March 9, 1953, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Melvin and Josephine Blume. She grew up in La Coste, Texas, and went on to graduate from Medina Valley High School in Castroville, Texas, in 1971. On June 25, 1992, she married Darson “Sonny” Persyn in Maui, Hawaii.
Peggy attended Northampton Community College in Pennsylvania and later St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from the Commercial Design Program in 2005. She dedicated 17 years of service to John Marshall High School, working in the registrar’s office.
She had a deep love for travel, with some of her favorite destinations including Niagara Falls, Hawaii, the Bahamas, and the Statue of Liberty. Above all, her favorite place was Rockport, Texas, where she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Josephine Blume; her brothers, Daniel and Darryl Blume; her father- and mother-in-law, Darson and Tillie Persyn; her brothers-in-law, Lloyd Payne and Forest Wilham; and her brother- and sister-in-law, Roland and Doris DeWinne.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Darson Persyn; her children, Heather Nicholson (David) and Michiel Persyn (Betty); her grandchildren, Nevin and Keely Nicholson; her siblings, David Blume (Renee), Linda Payne, and Della Wilham; her siblings-in-law, Betty Lanctot (Al), Nancy Wood (Fred), and Lynn McGilvay (David); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her nephews: Joshua Blume, Derek Payne, Jeffrey Blume, Chance Wilham, Trey Fitzpatrick, Patrick Foster, and Ethan Abernathy.
Visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road. A reception in the parish hall will follow the service. Interment will take place at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Road.
