

A descendant of one of the seven Canary Island families who established San Antonio, Penny was born there on August 28, 1943, and resided in that city the majority of her life. She was the second child of Sarah C. and Ferdinand H. Rees. She was a graduate of Thomas Edison High School and married another graduate, Jimmy Heath, a few years after graduation. They remained married for 27 years and had two sons, Christopher and Patrick, before separating and divorcing. Penny was a long time employee of Hooker Construction and, later, Wittig’s Furniture from where she eventually retired. Penny married Lynn Lehmann in 2000. After their retirements, she and her husband moved from San Antonio to a small farm in Fayette County just south of La Grange and remained living there until her death following a long battle with cancer.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Lynn Lehmann; her sister and brother-in-law, Cherry and David Townsend; Eric, her step-son and his wife, Chris; Penny’s son, Christopher Heath and his daughter Devanee; Patrick Heath, her other son, and Patrick’s wife, April and two children, Allysa and Dylan; a niece, Tracy Townsend; a nephew, Tobin Townsend, his wife, Becky, and their two sons, Greyson and Tucker; and Penny’s two canine companions, Peaches and Dotty.
There will be a visitation held at Sunset Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 12, with service starting at 12:00 PM and then interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
