I knew Pete since I was 11 years old. I was a shy and akward little girl but Pete had so much confidence in me and his kind words helped me outgrow that stage with grace. I think of Pete often, obviously - it is several years later and I still look at his memorial. But especially around this time of year since the anniversary of his death is approaching as well as Halloween. I'll never forget showing up at my sister Yvette's house when Pete passed away and the Halloween decorations were still out. I have a Halloween party every year to try to erase that sadness and make that holiday a happy one, always thinking of Pete and how positively he affected and blessed so many people, his short time on this earth will not be forgotten. And tonight I'm making meatloaf for dinner. I know that sounds odd but I always hear Pete saying about meatloaf 'if I wanted hamburger, I'd eat a hamburger.' Pete was such an incredible father to my nephews. We talk about Pete often, as do Tyler and Taylor and keep him alive through our memories. Tyler and Taylor have become such incredible young men, Pete would have been proud. And Yvette has done an awesome job teaching them and guiding them in the right direction. My children and my husband did not have the opportunity to ever meet Pete but I still talk about him often and keep photos of him up in my home. Pete will forever be the big brother I never had and will have a special place in my heart forever.

Dear Yvette and Family, My heart was with you almost every moment of the day through this past week. My memories will include Pete forever. While it didn't work out for me to be there for Pete's Memorial, my continuous thoughts and prayers brought me as close as I could be. Last week, I told the story about how I met Pete. When I first moved to Texas, a server came to my desk and told me the GM of the Courtyard was in our restaurant. I went to introduce myself not knowing it would be an introduction to a long time friend and co-worker. Pete was sitting there in his loony-tune tie safely protected by a dinner napkin. His smile greated me as he quickly swallowed a mouthful of pasta so he could speak without sharing his meal with me. We immediately hit it off and I don't think it was more than a couple weeks until we played our first round of golf together. We often played Fossil Creek in Fort Worth, Pete's favorite course in the area. We talked about how his hotel was beating the heck out of us in the market, and he quickly found out that my golf game was similar to his hotel performance. I think Pete would have given up a few points in share, just to beat me in golf. I couldn't beat Pete's hotel, so I recruited him to work for Wyndham. Our eventual moves changed our friendship in to one consisting primarily of phone calls. Both of us looked forward to that next Wyndham meeting so we could catch up on our lives and more importantly, play another round of golf. Pete was always interested in my well-being. He was better than me at calling and keeping in touch. We would talk at least once a month, often just to update the same subjects; our jobs, our family and our lives in general. He never missed filling me in on his family. He was so proud of his boys and content with his life. I often envied how seemingly content he was when our conversation veered away from work and in to his family life. Pete was proud, confident and not afraid to admit it. He set a good example for me in that respect, especially when I was going through a difficult time. Pete always made sure to check on the personal aspects of my life and of course, my own happiness. Wyndham meetings were always our chance to get together. We would plan at least one round of golf and sit together during many of the social functions. I always appreciated the fact that he considered me a very close friend and made it a point to make sure I knew that I was his friend. I hope I did the same for him. Reflecting on what happened last week, I realized how much I'll miss him. I can hear his messages on my voice mail; "Hey Jim, this is Pete, give me a call..."! It sounds funny, but I'll miss those messages more than I'll miss our occasional golf games. Our last one was in Texas during our last National Sales Meeting. Believe it or not, Pete beat me by more than a couple strokes. He was hitting the ball long and making putts as if the hole was the size of a basketball hoop. It all makes sense to me now. I'll miss Pete, but at least I'll know that he has the honor for the rest of my life. Thank God for allowing Pete to be a part of my life. Love, Jim

To the family of Peter Chervo My name is Sally Brown, an employee of the Wyndham Midtown Hotel in Atlanta. Mr Chervo may be gone from us here on Earth, but he is surely an angel in Heaven. Not a day had gone by that I didn't think about my old General Manager. He was so caring. He gave me a chance at the Wyndham to become the best Guest Services Agent there is. His words "nothing is impossible". I know that Mr Chervo has already earned his wings. May God be with his family Love,
