February 4, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to Petra Z. Torres and John R. Torres.
Peter was preceded in death by; father John R. Torres; mother Petra Z Torres; brother Victorio Z. Torres;
nephew Paul-Michael Cadena.
Peter is survived by his spouse, Sylvia Diane Torres; son Victor W. Torres and daughter-in-law Olivia E.
Torres; daughter Renee Cowdery; son Peter James Torres; and daughter Patricia D. Mata and son-in-law
Edward Mata II; sister Janey Torres-Negrete and brother-in-law David R. Negrete and brother John E.
Torres and sister-in-law Elizabeth O. Torres; grandchildren Andria E. Torres, Christian R. Cowdery, Isaac
E. Mata and Isabella G. Mata.
Peter John Torres graduated from La Salle High School. This is where he discovered his love for football
and joined the high school football team. His love for the sport continued until the day he went home to
be with his Heavenly Father. After graduating high school, Peter joined the United States Marine Corps.
He faithfully served his country for eight years and served two years in Vietnam.
Just two weeks after fulfilling his service with the U.S. Marines he went on to join the L.A.P.D. There he spent twenty years protecting the residents of Los Angeles, California. Upon retiring, Peter returned to his hometown San Antonio, Texas. During his retirement, Peter spent his Sunday afternoons watching football and enjoyed frequent family dinners at various restaurants. Peter John Torres always spoke about his love for God, his country, and his guns. He will be dearly missed but his legacy will live on in our hearts and the stories we tell our children.
