Philip Stevens Jacobs

Philip Stevens Jacobs was born on July 6, 1935, in El Paso, Texas to Homer and Margaret Jacobs. He graduated from The University of Texas at El Paso and went on to earn a degree in law from St. Mary’s Law School. Philip was a first lieutenant in the army and was stationed in Virginia. He practiced law in San Antonio, El Paso, and Kerrville for over sixty years and was justice of the peace in Kerrville. Philip built a life marked by dedication to his profession, community, and the people and activities he loved. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Walker Jacobs; his son, Steve Jacobs; granddaughter, Alina Kupchak; brother, Homer Jacobs; parents, Homer Avery Jacobs and Margaret Stevens Jacobs; and his nephew, Homer Jacobs III.

Philip is survived by his wife, Linda Jacobs; daughter, Claire Kupchak (Mitch); daughter-in-law, Nika Jacobs; stepdaughters, Cindy Clayton (Jim) and Johna Lowe (Judd); grandchildren, Maxwell, Sasha, Hannah, Grant, Clementene, James, Rebecca; and two nieces.

Philip was cared for by a wonderful man, Eduardo Hernandez, who quickly became Philip’s companion and a special member of the family.

Philip was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. He was also member of the Order of the Alamo, San Antonio German Club, and San Antonio Country Club. He lived an active lifestyle and could often be found on the golf course or in the swimming pool. Philip especially cherished time spent golfing with his St. Mark's Episcopal golfing group. Beyond sports he loved reading, listening to music, traveling, and enjoying a good meal. His curiosity, energy, and appreciation for life’s pleasures stayed with him always.

A memorial service for Philip will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 11:00am, with a reception following immediately at the church.
