FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF PHILLIP S. SFAIR, WE SHARE THE SORROW OF MR. SFAIR'S DEPARTURE. HE WAS A GOOD TEXAN DEDICATED TO THE USA, A FAMILY MAN, A GOOD FRIEND, EXCELLENT BUSINESSMAN, HONEST, KIND HEARTED, EXCITING TO KNOW. HE AND HIS BROTHER HAD THE BEST PRIVATE CLUBS IN SAN ANTONIO. ONE OF OUR FAVORITES WAS OUR MEMBERSHIP AT THE NAVY CLUB IN THE WORLD'S FIRST AIR CONDITIONED OFFICE BLDG, THE MILAM BLDG. THAT CLUB WAS PERFECT--GREAT AMBIANCE, FOOD, DRINK AND ENTERTAINMENT. DURING THE SHOOTING OF THE MOVIE, THE ALAMO, THE CAST ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS WOULD BE AT THE NAVY CLUB. THE STARS WOULD ENJOY THE VERY BEST, HAVE FUN. THE ONLY ONE WHO WASN'T THERE WAS JOHN WAYNE, HE WOULD GO TO BIG JOHN'S STEAKHOUSE. WE WOULD DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY, CHILL WILLS WOULD DANCE WITH MY GIRLFRIEND, WHO BECAME MY WIFE. MR. SFAIR WAS ALWAYS GOOD TO THE MILITARY. DURING THE KOREAN AND COLD WAR ERAS I WOULD TAKE USAF SAC FLIGHT CREWS TO THE NAVY CLUB. EXAMPLE: ONE NIGHT I HAD A CREW THERE AND ONE OF THE PILOTS HAD A DATE. THE CONVERSATION WAS NOT WITHIN HER REALM OF KNOWLEDGE AND SHE NEEDED ATTENTION, WHEN THE FOOD ORDER WAS TAKEN SHE REQUESTED A 4-CHEESE PIZZA. SHE WAS INFORMED IT WASN'T ON THE MENU, SHE SAID THAT'S WHAT I WANT. MR. SFAIR ASKED WHAT DOES THE LADY REQUEST? WHEN THE FOOD WAS SERVED A LARGE CONTAINER WAS SET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TABLE IT CONTAINED ONE BIG PIZZA. AT THE CLOSE OF THE FUN EVENING, I HAD MY TAB--NO PIZZA WAS ON IT. I INFORMED THE BARTENDER THAT THE PIZZA HAD BEEN OMITTED FROM THE TAB. HE SAID --OH, MR.SFAIR IS LIKE THAT HE KNOWS THE HEAD CHEF AT THE GUNTER HOTEL, HE REQUESTED THE PIZZA BE SENT HERE, IT'S ON MR.SFAIR. THAT'S THE WAY HE WAS, HE SAW A PROBLEM THAT COULD HAVE RUINED AN EVENING AND HE CORRECTED IT. THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT STORIES ABOUT MR.SFAIR. HIS PRIVATE CLUBS WERE AT THE RIGHT PLACES AT THE RIGHT TIME. TEXAS HAD A LAW--NO MIXED DRINKS OVER THE BAR TO THE PUBLIC, THEY COULD BE OBTAINED AT COUNTRY CLUBS, MILITARY BASES AND PRIVATE CLUBS. 1968 THE WORLD'S FAIR WAS IN SAN ANTONIO MANY OUT OF STATE TOURISTS DISCOVERED THE SFAIRS' PRIVATE CLUBS, I BELIEVE THAT THOSE CLUBS MADE HAPPY TOURISTS THAT RETURNED TO SAN ANTONIO THE HOME OF THE ALAMO. IT WAS A GOOD TIME AND MR. PHILLIP SFAIR AND HIS BROTHER MADE IT THE BEST OF TIMES. MR. SFAIR WHEN YOU GET UP THERE YOU WILL FIND MANY ADMIRERS, FRIENDS --JUST WALK THE FLIGHT LINE. MANY OF THE FLIGHT CREWS ARE THERE HOLDING A TIE DOWN PLACE FOR MARY ANN AND I WHEN WE MAKE OUR LAST FLIGHT. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR BROTHER, MR. SFAIR. Cheryl I am so sorry - Phil will be missed.

We have fond memories of Mr. Sfair and his incredible generosity! Once, when we used to live in the Alta Vista area, we went Christmas caroling in the neighborhood and happened to sing at Mr. Sfair's house. Even though we were strangers, he gave our 1 year son a gingerbread house. Every Christmas after that he looked us up and gave our sons yet another gingerbread house! I know there were others that he blessed with a gingerbread house as well. What a giving, generous man Mr. Sfair was--it probably contributed to his long life!

My mother, Mrs. Alice Galindo, worked for Phil 33 years, and it was a true honor for her to be witness to what a devoted husband and caretaker Phil was to his beloved wife, Mary Lou. My sister and I also have wonderful memories of Phil with my parents and appreciate how he always had time to talk. Phil is now in the arms of God and he will always be remembered. Cheryl, So sorry to learn of Phil's passing. I will remember him for his kindness and generosity. I will miss seeing and talking to him at the Petroleum Club, but his presence will be felt for many years to come.

I will miss seeing you at Church every Sunday. When I was in grade school you encouraged me. In junior high, you were happy that I attended the same school as you did. When I reached High School you told me stories of your days at Jeff. I would have loved to have had you at my graduation in 2012 but the Lord and the Virgin Mary called you home. I will stay on course, making you proud. Thank you my Godfather for being such an inspiration to me and for blessing my life.

I lived across the street from the Perron's in the '50's. My Daddy and Mr. Perron spent many a night until the early morning at the Navy Club. The three were the best of friends. They went to the 1956 World Series in New York, when in Game 5 Don Larsen pitched the only perfect game in baseball history. Those three in New York? Probably a good thing that there were no cell phone cameras in those days. Now the three amigo's will be reunited with the Lord. They don't make 'em like that anymore. God Bless you Phil.
