
He was born and raised in Farmersville, Texas. He served honorably in the U.S. Naval Reserves. Glenn worked in management and logistics and as a Union Arbitrator with Canadian Pacific. In 1954, he met and married his high school sweetheart, Donna. They lived in Dallas, New York, Houston, Olympia, Washington, and settled in San Antonio.
In the 1970's, Glenn became member of the Lions Club in New York and served continuously as a member of Lions Club International. Upon his return to Texas, his service involvement increased. His leadership duties continued to grow and he served as President of the San Antonio Founder Lions Club and presently is a member of the Central Park Lions Club. Glenn continued his service by becoming Chairman of the Lions District 2-A2 Hearing Board. Through this service, Glenn made an impact assisting thousands of children and senior citizens.
Among his many accomplishments in service to those less fortunate, Glenn was recognized by the International President Eberhard Wirfs for outstanding membership growth.
Glenn is preceded in death by his son, Byron Brently Burns and his parents, Benjamin Poland Burns and Elizabeth Murphy Burns and uncle, Audie Murphy.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Donna Burns; brother, Weldon Howard Burns and wife Patsy of Grand Prairie, TX; sister, Charlene Barnes and husband, Bryant of Marble Falls, TX; aunt, Nadine Lokey of Farmersville, TX; numerous nephews and nieces.
He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
