R. S. Menefee

R. S. "Tod" Menefee, of San Antonio, died Monday, August 26, 2002 after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 15, 1906, in San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Smith Menefee and mother, Florence Stewart Menefee. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy-one years, Agustina Menefee and daughters

Betty M. Cavender and Joan M. Hensarling and her husband, Larry R. Hensarling of San Antonio; grandchildren, William B. Cavender, Jr. and his wife, Cathy, Robert M. Cavender and his wife, Stephanie, Stuart L. Cavender and his wife, Allyson, all of San Antonio, Larry R. Hensarling, Jr. and his wife, Deanie, Cordova, TN, Philip T. Hensarling and his wife, Leigh Ann, Houston, TX, Betty A. Hensarling, Tampa, FL, Richard N. Hensarling and his wife, Rachel, Lafayette, LA; great grandchildren, W. B. III, Hank, Tod, Rob, C. C., Abby, Blake, Lee and Southy Cavender, Amy, David, Jessica, Philip Jr., Richard Jr., Matthew, Clare and Camille Hensarling; numerous nieces, nephews, and many loving friends. Tod became a member of the Professional Golf Association in 1931. He became head Pro at the San Antonio Country Club in 1938, retiring in 1980. Some other of his personal accomplishments include, Two Time City Amateur Champion in 1929 and 1930, Medalist, Mexico Amateur in 1930, Co-Founder of the San Antonio Golf Association, President of the Texas PGA, Five time PGA Senior Champion, six time 50 and over division Champion, Texas Section - Player of the year, Texas Hall of Fame in 1994 and was later inducted into the San Antonio Wall of Fame.Pallbearers will be his six grandsons followed by his great grandsons. Interment in Sunset Memorial Park.
