Rafael "Ralph" Arriaga, age 74, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. He was born on July 9, 1947 in Monterrey, Mexico, to parents, Rafael and Antonia Aguilar Arriaga. He served honorably in the United States Army and worked for 49 years for the McDonald's Corporation - Haljohn in San Antonio. Ralph is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gloria Arriaga; son, Anthony Arriaga and his wife, Jeni; daughter, Jennifer Arriaga Alvizo and her husband, Adam, and his "pride and joy" grandchildren, Alexandra, Amaya, Anthony, and Emilia; sister, Beatrice Remling; sister, Maria Guajardo, brother, Ramiro Arriaga; sister, Alice O'Bannon; sister, Yolanda Arriaga; and brother, Rene Arriaga; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ralph was a superhero of kindness, compassion and warmth. He lit up any room he walked into and he was glad to talk with anyone, anywhere, at anytime. His incredible personality combined with his brilliant sense of humor didn't allow him to leap buildings in a single bound, but it did allow him to brighten the day of everyone he met; a truly amazing superhuman feat. Friends and family were lucky enough to bask in his light for 74 years and can attest to his cheerful disposition, easy going attitude, and infectious positivity with which he lived every day of his life.
Ralph met his one true love on a blind date in 1973. Their feelings were instantaneous and deeply shared. Within six months they were married and began the journey of life together as beloved husband and wife. Over the course of this journey Ralph always adored his wonderful wife and he did whatever he could to make her happy. Together they raised their two children and everyday gave them the love and support which has made them who they are today. Ralph beamed with pride for his family and cherished every moment he spent with them. His legacy of kindness, love, laughter, and light will continue through his wife, children, grandchildren, and the rest of his wonderful family members and friends.
The family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
