Ramiro Estrada Alcorta Jr.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ramiro E. Alcorta, Jr., aged 76, of Poteet, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Ramiro was born on October 23, 1948, in Poteet, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary C. Alcorta, son Ramiro Alcorta, III, daughter in law Lillian Acosta, and grandson Jack Alcorta. Ramiro is also survived by his sisters Evangeline Chapa and husband Lee Chapa and Ophelia Gonzales and husband Antonio. He was preceded by his parents Ramiro P. Alcorta, Sr., and Elvira Estrada, and sister Maria Elena Alcorta.

Ramiro served in the Navy and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin. One of Ramiro’s greatest joys was his only son Ramiro Alcorta, III and grandson Jack Alcorta. Ramiro enjoyed watching all sports, barbequing, listening to music, and doing antique shopping. Ramiro’s hobby was playing billiards and traveling with his wife Mary and son Ramiro Alcorta, III.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218, from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209 at 10:15 AM on Friday, September 19, 2025.
