Pops met his "Mi Vida" in 1962 and was married to our Mom for 58 years. He loved her dearly. He moved his family from Detroit to be closer to Mom's families in 1974. He was so proud of buying their first home where they raised their four sons. He loved wood-carving and telling stories of the way things were.
Pops was sick for a year and had suffered a stroke in February of this year. Mom looked after him when he decided to have hospice care at home. It was heart-breaking to see Pops go through his illness, robbing him of his strength and stamina.
Pops enlisted twice in the United States Army and was honorably discharged with a rank of SSG after 15 years of service. Pops was an Industrial Mechanic Journeyman, his skills dating back to his teens, which later developed into a love of teaching.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Joseph Martinez, Carmen Martinez and Julio Martinez. He will forever be remembered by his "Mi Vida", Armandina Hernandez Martinez; sons, Adolfo Rafael Martinez (Leslie), Carlos Ernesto Martinez (Elizabeth), Sergio Armando Martinez (Ana) and Fernando Ramon Martinez (Jennifer); eleven grandchildren and his brother, Miguel Martinez.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and deep gratitude for all expressions of sympathy and acts of kindness shown during this time of bereavement.
