

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raul Castro Jr. a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished brother, uncle, and friend, who left us on September the 21st at the age of 92. His unwavering love, wisdom, and kindness touched all who knew him.
Born in Brownsville, TX on March 4, 1932, Raul lived a life marked by passion and dedication. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, a role that shaped his commitment to service and integrity. After his military service, he pursued his education, earning a degree in engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, an achievement that set the stage for a fulfilling and successful career.
An accomplished engineer, Raul Castro spent much of his professional life working at White Sands Missile Range, where his expertise, innovative thinking, and attention to detail made him a valued member of the team. His contributions to his field were a source of pride for him and those who worked alongside him.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Raul had a zest for life. He was an avid golfer, spending many cherished days on the course with family and friends. His love of flying, a skill he mastered as a pilot, brought him great joy, allowing him to experience the world from a perspective few ever do.
Above all, Raul was a family man. His greatest love was his wife, Eustolia Castro with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. He is preceded in death by his Father Raul Castro, his Mother Aurora Castro and sisters, Adela Hinojosa, Gloria Martinez, and Juanita Castro Valdez. As well as brothers Oscar Castro, Armando Castro, and Carlos Castro. Raul is survived by his beloved wife Eustolia Castro, and children David Castro, Patricia Castro, Ruben and Gabriela Castro, and Teresa and Richard Gonzalez, and his beautiful grandkids Matthew, Savannah, Nathanial, Rebecca, Sebastian, Evan and Celeste. As well as his sister Ofelia Arzamendi and brother Roberto Castro. He was a steady source of love, strength, and support, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Raul leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and passion, and his memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
A visitation for Raul will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A funeral service will occur Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A graveside service will occur Friday, October 4, 2024 from 9:15 AM to 9:45 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
